How does the Keeneland September Bonus Program work?
Sellers receive cash rewards for yearlings that were sold at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale based on the following criteria:
- Win your first G1 race= $10,000 Seller Bonus value
- Win your first G2 race = $7,500 Seller Bonus value
- Win your first G3 race = $5,000 Seller Bonus value
A graduate is eligible for a Seller Bonus based on its highest level of graded stakes win. Should a graduate step up and win another race at a higher grade during its 2- or 3-year-old campaign, the Seller will receive the difference in value between the previous grade and the higher grade, with a maximum lifetime payout of $10,000 available per horse.
What horses are eligible?
The Keeneland September Bonus Program applies to graduates who sold at the September Sale beginning in 2017.
Which graded/group stakes races are included in the program?
A graded/group stakes win in the following IFHA Blue Book Part 1 countries at age two or three qualifies for the Keeneland September Bonus Program: United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, and United Arab Emirates.
Who are the bonuses paid to?
Seller Bonus payouts are distributed to the owner of the horse at the time of sale.
Do I earn a bonus for each graded stakes win?
You win a Seller Bonus in the event of your first graded stakes win. Should a horse later win a race of a higher Grade during its two or three-year-old season, sellers will receive the difference to the next tier of Seller rewards. For example, a horse that wins a G3 race is awarded $5,000. If the horse then wins a G2 race, sellers would receive $2,500 as the value of a G2 winner is $7,500.
If my horse wins a graded stakes race at two and three, will I earn rewards in two calendar years?
It is possible to earn rewards over the course of two years for multiple graded stakes wins should a graduate step up in class and win at a higher grade. The maximum lifetime Seller Bonus payout is $10,000 per horse for a G1 win during a horse's two- or three-year-old campaign.
What is the maximum amount of bonus money paid?
A horse is eligible for a maximum of $10,000 in bonus rewards lifetime as a result of a G1 win during its two- or three-year-old seasons. A G2 winner is capped at $7,500 total and a G3 winner at $5,000 until a win at a higher level occurs.
When will the Keeneland September Bonus Program be paid?
Seller Bonus rewards are distributed directly following an eligible graded stakes win.
Do bonuses apply to RNAs?
In order to be eligible for the September Sale Bonus Program a yearling must sell through Keeneland.
