Hawkbill

Hawkbill was in top form to win the Princess of Wales’s Arqana Racing Club (G2) at Newmarket on July 13, leading easily throughout the 1½-mile race and showing resolve to maintain his advantage when challenged in the final furlongs by favorite Frontiersman.

A multiple graded stakes winner, Hawkbill established himself as one of Europe’s top middle-distance performers with a victory in last year’s Coral-Eclipse (G1) at Sandown. Among his eight wins in 16 career starts are the 2017 Al Rayyan Aston Park (G3) at Newbury and Tercentenary (G3) at Royal Ascot.

Bred in Kentucky by Helen K. Groves Revocable Trust, Hawkbill is a 4-year-old colt by Kitten’s Joy out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Trensa.

He was purchased for $350,000 by owner Godolphin at Keeneland’s 2014 September Yearling Sale, where he was consigned by Gainesway, agent.
